The Problem

Students were not actively using UIndy's previous app, which was buggy and uninteresting to students used to quick and intuitive social apps.

The Solution

UIndy worked with Ready Education to design a customized mobile app that integrated multiple key services into a user interface with the quality of a commercial social networking app.

The app needed to be multifunctional to provide real value to students and meaningfully transform the student experience. It would need to provide seamless integration.

The app had to support a feeling of community, with UIndy's branding, a vibrant home screen, public communication channels, and connections to on and off-campus resources.

The app had to be engaging and easy to use so that it could be effectively leveraged to connect students to critical resources and to be an effective communication channel.

The Outcome


UIndy saw an enthusiastic response from their students with 90% adoption and a 4.7/5 app store rating.


Students became daily active users, totaling 430,000 app sessions.


With near-universal adoption and daily active use, faculty and staff were better able to communicate with students, and access to on and off-campus resources improved.
